December 21, 2007 10:33 AM PST
But first, these are my ‘BEST’ CD’s for 2007 (Part 2) (11.) VELVET REVOLVER - LIBERTAD – This record is more cohesive than their debut, partially due to the presence of Weiland's old STP producer, Brendan O'Brien. Hear ‘SHE BUILDS QUICK MACHINES’, ‘Let It Roll’, ‘She Mine’, ‘The Last Fight’ & Gravedancer, by ‘Velvet Revolver’ right here, right now. (12.) BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN - MAGIC – After hearing this, it's hard not to wish that Bruce would record this way all the time. No hillbilly Pete Seger sessions here, this is the E-STREET BAND.
** (BONUS) U2 - THE JOSHUA TREE - [20th Anniversary 2-CD/DVD] - Makes perfect sense that The Joshua Tree would be the first deluxe reissue as it was the album that made U2 international superstars. And now, since I’m just gonna, ‘LET IT ROLL’ with this next pick, My stone cold LOCK for NFL Week 16 is the: ARIZONA CARDINALS over the Atlanta Falcons 30 – 16 (covering the Spread as the favorite, no matter what the point spread is) ANOTHER WAY I COULD DO IT
December 14, 2007 12:39 PM PST
But first, These are my TOP 10 ‘BEST’ CD’s for 2007 (Part 1) (1.) SLOAN - NEVER HEAR THE END OF IT – This cd has some of the eclecticism of The White Album, yet it flows like Rundgren's deliberate head trip, A Wizard, a True Star. (2.) QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE - ERA VULGARIS - One of the best rock & roll records released in 2007 — and the year sure needed the dose of thunder that this album provides.
** (BONUS) THE EAGLES - LONG ROAD OUT OF EDEN - An album meticulously crafted to fit within the band's legacy without tarnishing it….I’ll have my Best of the rest for 2007 cd list ( ‘Part 2’) next week. (Bob) And now, should I lose on this pick, you’ll, ‘NEVER HEAR THE END OF IT’, My stone cold LOCK for NFL Week 15 is the: TAMPA BAY BUCS over the Atlanta Falcons 30 – 13 (covering the Spread as the -11.5 point favorite) ILL PLACED TRUST

They're tearing us apart, They're breaking up my heart. I knew it from the start: Your friends are tearing us apart’. (ERIC CLAPTON) These song lyrics above kind of remind me of some of the poor coaching decisions made by Joe Gibbs, Sean Payton, and Brian Billick in NFL Week 13, tearing their team’s playoff chances apart. With that being said, which teams playoff hopes will be torn apart this week? We’ll see! And now since this next teams playoff chances will not be ‘Torn Apart’ this week. Carolina Panthers Cheerleader Brooke. ‘Brother John saw visions of God. So they put him in chains, for acting too odd. As the crowd shouted, "Off with his head". The priest said, "Have mercy. Let's burn him instead". ‘TRAPPED’. Trapped in a world that he never made!....(UTOPIA) w Kasim Sulton, Roger Powell, Willie Wilcox & Todd Rundgren After reviewing the NFL schedule for this week, NFL Week 10, I just had to ask myself the following questions before making my picks. Is this finally gonna be ‘TRAP’ game Sunday in the NFL? Are the Denver Broncos really gonna lose their 6th game this week? Will the Eagles also actually lose their 6th? Are the Dolphins and Rams actually gonna go 0 – 16 this season? I was even hesitating picking both of their games this week. They have to win a game eventually, don’t they? Are the Panthers finally gonna win a game at Home? They’ve lost their last 5 home games by a combined score of 149-51. Will the the Packers & Cowboys really win their 8th game already and the Lions & Titans actually win their 7th? Will the Bengals really lose their 7th? Something’s gotta give! And now, although, I feel ‘TRAPPED’ in a world that I never made, having to pick this weeks games, my Stone Cold Lead Pipe LOCK for NFL Week 10 is still the: NEW ORLEANS SAINTS over the St. Louis Rams 34 – 20 LOVE IN ACTION

Yes, I do believe this is a fifty – fifty game, even at Pittsburgh. The Browns are a much better team now than when they first played the Steelers. I’ll also take the GIANTS over Dallas 34 – 30 as my other 50 – 50 toss up for this week, with the GIANTS covering the +1 spread, obviously. My Bonus 50 -50 is the KC Chiefs over Denver 27 – 24. My Fake – Out for NFL Week 10 is ARIZONA over Detroit 26 -23. I’ll also take the Cardinals with the points in this one, whatever, the point spread is. My Bonus-Fake-Out is JACKSONVILLE over Tennessee 19 – 16 LOVE IS THE ANSWER

I Will Not pick San Francisco over SEATTLE at SEATTLE. Just can’t do it. And I also Will Not pick OAKLAND over Chicago, anywhere, especially after the Raiders let me down last week. PS. BUB ’S STATS FOR THE WEEK NFL Week 9 Straight up: 9 – 5 REGULAR SEASON LEADPIPE LOCKS: 8 – 2 BONUS LOCKS: 6 – 2 Fake – Outs: 5 – 5 Fifty – Fifties: 10 – 10 Will Nots: 15 – 2 Spreads 8 – 10 Overall Regular-Season Record Straight up: 85 – 45 PS 2. (hard to believe this wasn't a #1 Hit for Todd Rundgren. but then again george w. bush actually got elected also. that explains it. THE MARRIAGE OF HEAVEN AND HELL

Abandoning overt prog — thereby leaving behind the extended instrumental sections, but not the synthesizer & guitar solos — Utopia became a mainstream rock band with their fourth album, Oops! Wrong Planet. Oops! Wrong Planet is more consistent than earlier Utopia records. "Love in Action" is a terrific hard rocker, as is "Trapped," and "Love Is the Answer" is an ideal stadium anthem — that make the record worthwhile. (just had to post this song to hear Todd's incredible Sounding guitar licks near the end) AIN'T TALKIN' 'BOUT LOVE

Given that I was at the VAN HALEN show last night at the Verizon Center in Washington, DC and I’m still trying to recover from partying, I might as well feature some of their songs, wouldn’t you say? Highlights from this show for me were the songs ‘Eruption’, ‘Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love’ and ‘Jamie’s Cryin’. These three songs were the Best since you could actually hear Eddie Van Halen’s guitar solos Loud & Clear. ‘Eruption’ was particularly fantastic since Eddie was getting guitar sounds that I’ve never really heard before, not necessarily for his fast guitar note playing. Wish I could say the same for the majority of the other songs, which sounded like muzzled distortion, noise. And now since I ‘Ain’t Talkin Bout Love’, ‘hey hey hey’ my Stone Cold Lead Pipe LOCK for NFL Week 9 is the: PITTSBURGH STEELERS over the Baltimore Ravens 26 – 16 ERUPTION

Atlanta Falcons Cheerleader Jamie. Now to my Picks for NFL Week 9. I’m not picking a Bonus-LOCK this week, since it was more difficult even predicting One Lock this week, let alone two. In my 50 - 50 games I’ll take TENNESSEE over Carolina 20 – 16. However, I’m picking the Panthers to cover the +4.5 point spread here. I’ll also take TAMPA BAY over Arizona 20 – 17 as my other 50 – 50 toss up for this week, with the Cardinals covering the +3.5 spread. ME WISE MAGIC

I’m taking OAKLAND over Houston as a Bonus 50-50 this Sunday as well. My Fake – Out for NFL Week 9 is ATLANTA over San Francisco 24 -20. RUNNING WITH THE DEVIL
November 02, 2007 10:35 AM PDT
I Will Not pick the New York Jets over WASHINGTON since the Jets never beat the Redskins. And I also Will Not pick Minnesota over SAN DIEGO, even at Home. PS. BUB ’S STATS FOR THE WEEK NFL Week 8 Straight up: 8 – 5 REGULAR SEASON LEADPIPE LOCKS: 7 – 2 BONUS LOCKS: 6 – 2 Fake – Outs: 4 – 5 Fifty – Fifties: 8 – 10 Will Nots: 14 – 1 Spreads 8 – 8 Overall Regular-Season Record Straight up: 76 – 40 ONLY

’I'm becoming less defined as days go by. Fading away. Well you might say. I'm losing focus. Kinda drifting into the abstract. In terms of how I see myself….There is no you. There is only me. There is no you. There is ‘ONLY’ me’! (Nine_Inch_ Nails) Lyrics from the song ‘ONLY’ off their Excellent CD ‘WITH TEETH’. (It's loud and angry, doesn't skimp on hooks, and is heavy on both sexy robotic dance beats and crashing rock rhythms, some supplied by everybody's favorite drummer, Dave Grohl,- all things that made their song "Closer" an alt-rock classic!.…Stephen Thomas Erlewine; ALLMUSIC.COM) And now since I’m ‘ONLY’ focused on getting this next pick right this week, my Stone Cold Lead Pipe Lock for NFL Week 5 is the: INDIANAPOLIS COLTS over the Tampa Bay Bucs 30 – 17
PS. BUB ’S STATS FOR THE WEEK NFL Week 5 Straight up: 6 – 8 REGULAR SEASON LEADPIPE LOCKS: 3 – 1 BONUS LOCKS: 4 – 0 Fake – outs: 2 – 2 Fifty – Fifties: 4 – 5 Will Nots: 7 – 0 Spreads 4 –4 Overall Regular-Season Record Straight up: 39 – 23 WITH TEETH
October 05, 2007 12:32 PM PDT
Colts Cheerleader Stephanie Now, I’ll get right to my picks for NFL Week 5, OK? I Will Not pick Cleveland over New England at New England. Actually I most likely will not pick against the Patriots for the rest of the season. I’m also taking the PATS with the points as the Favorite in this one as well. I also Will Not pick the Falcons over the Titans at you’re the ‘Only’ Ten-I-see, although this game may be ‘Closer’ (Nine Inch Nails), than people think? THE HAND THAT FEEDS
October 05, 2007 12:26 PM PDT
Indianapolis Colts Cheerleader Cyndel My Fake – Out for NFL Week 5 is the Rams over the Arizona Cardinals 23-19. I also would not be surprised if Miami upsets Houston and Chicago beats Green Bay, somehow. I am also picking the COWBOYS over the Bills as my Bonus-Lock this week, 37 – 13. In my 50 -50 games I’ll take the Giants over the Jets 24 – 13, covering the point spread as the Favorite. I’ll also take the Saints over the Panthers 27 - 24. UNCLE JONNY

‘I never really gave up on, breakin' out of this two-star town. I got the green light, I got a little fight. I'm gonna turn this thing around. Can you read my mind? Can you read my mind’? (The Killers) From their excellent song ‘Read My Mind’ off their CD ‘SAM’S TOWN’. (The quintessential Vegas rock album from the quintessential Vegas rock band... Stephen Thomas Erlewine; ALLMUSIC.COM) Hear ‘Read My Mind’, ‘When You Were Young’ and ‘Uncle Jonny’ in their entirety at you know. Also listen to my ‘Bonus’ Song Lock, this week, ‘I Love My Computer’ by Bad Religion from their Cd ‘The New America’. PS. BUB ’S STATS FOR THE WEEK/SEASON NFL Week 3 Straight up: 11 – 5 LEADPIPE LOCKS: 3 – 0 BONUS LOCKS: 3 – 0 Fake – outs: 1 – 2 Fifty – Fifties: 3 – 3 Will Nots: 5 – 0 Spreads 3 – 3 Overall Regular-Season Record Straight up: 33 – 15 READ MY MIND
September 29, 2007 08:49 AM PDT
San Diego Chargers Cheerleader Michele And now since this team is gonna start ‘Turning This Thing Around’ this week, my Stone Cold Lead Pipe Lock for NFL Week 4 is the: SAN DIEGO CHARGERS over the Kansas City Chiefs 30 – 16 …… ‘I could ‘Read’ their minds’. WHEN YOU WERE YOUNG
September 29, 2007 08:36 AM PDT
San Diego Chargers Cheerleader Heather. Also featuring 'WHEN YOU WERE YOUNG' by (the KILLERS) Lets get right to NFL Week 4, shall we! I Will Not pick St. Louis over Dallas at Dallas. Don’t get me wrong, Rams fans. I love the Rams, but how could I pick them on the road when they can’t even win at home, where they’re normally a Lock? I’m also taking the Cowboys with the points as the Favorite. I also Will Not pick the Vikings over Green Bay anywhere this season, the way the Packers are playing now. However, I will pick the Vikings to cover the point spread in this one. COSMIK DEBRIS
September 21, 2007 03:09 PM PDT
New England Patriots Cheerleader Alyssa, Quinn, Meg, and Crystal. And now since I’m not Jivin’ you with that ‘COSMIK DEBRIS’ (Frank Zappa) , my Stone Cold Lead Pipe Lock for NFL Week 3 is the NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS over the Buffalo Bills 34 – 16 SEKSUAL HARASSMENT IN THE WORKPLACE
September 21, 2007 02:47 PM PDT
New England Patriots Cheerleader Andrea In my 50 -50 games I’ll take the JETS at home over Miami in the boredom bowl 20 – 17 and Oakland over Cleveland 27 - 26. This time the field goal at the end of the game hits the upright & goes in. My Fake – Out for NFL Week 3 is the Bengals over the Seattle Seahawks 30-27. Also I Would Not be surprised if the Giants spring an upset on the Skins. Seem like they always play Washington tough even in down years. PS. BUB ’S STATS FOR THE WEEK/SEASON NFL Week 2 Straight up: 11 – 5 LEADPIPE LOCKS: 2 – 0 BONUS LOCKS: 2 – 0 Fake – outs: 1 – 1 Fifty – Fifties: 1 – 3 Will Nots: 3 – 0 Spreads 1 - 3 Overall Regular-Season Record Straight up: 22 – 10 SEKSUAL HARASSMENT IN THE WORKPLACE by (Frank Zappa) DIRTY LOVE
September 21, 2007 02:34 PM PDT
And now to my picks for NFL Week 3. I Will Not pick Minnesota over Kansas City at K.C. I usually Never pick the Vikings on the road or pick against the Chiefs at Home. I’m also taking the Chiefs with the points as the Favorite. I also absolutely Will Not pick the Cardinals over the Ravens at Baltimore. For the same reasons as my previous pick. However, I am picking the STEELERS over the 49ers 26 - 13 as my Bonus-Lock instead, also covering the point spread as a home Favorite. MONTANA

TEMPORARY SANITY
September 07, 2007 01:35 PM PDT
Seahawks Cheerleader Melanie. All Fantasy Football owners of Drew Brees, Deuce McAllister and Reggie Bush, myself included there with Bush, should be able to relate to this song. Our 'TEMPORARY SANITY' before the Saints - Colts game turned to 'INSANITY' during and by the end of the game after the 41 - 10 beating the Saints encountered. Yikes! Yes, Todd. 'We must be Crazy', We must be Crazy, there's no Explanation, so 'We must be Crazy'! IF NOT NOW, WHEN?
September 07, 2007 01:07 PM PDT
Seattle Seahawks Cheerleader Amy. This is a long road trip for an opener for Tampa Bay. The Seahawks should have an easy time with Tampa Bay in this one - at home. They're simply better. 'IF NOT NOW, WHEN?' 'If not you, who then'? (Rundgren) |
